Regenerative Gardening @ The Hyde Park Public Library

The Hyde Park Branch is partnering with The Garden Body, to host a two-part sustainable gardening workshop that focuses on the importance of planting native pollinator species and our community's responsibility in supporting local ecosystems.

Agenda:

Part 1: Thursday, May 7 at 6:00 pm to 7:45 pm

  1. Discuss the meaning of "Gardening for Empathy".

  2. Discuss our responsibility in supporting the natural-ecosystem.

  3. Identify native plants to support pollinators.

  4. Vision Board for Garden – Based on what they learned from the session, attendees will be asked to plan their garden.

Part 2: Saturday, May 9 at 10:00 am to 12:00 pm

  1. Plan your garden.

  2. Discuss companion planting.

  3. Seed Starting Kit Activity – We’ll start seed-kits with attendees based off their vision board – seeds, soil, mulch, and repurposed containers will be provided. Aprons are available if needed.

  4. Seed Swapping Activity (we encourage participants to bring their own seeds to swap with each others & with neighbors).
